Things to know about the short high school
The Kurzgymnasium enables you to study at a university. After successful completion, you will receive a federal Matura and you will be admitted to study at Swiss universities, federal institutes of technology and universities of teacher education. For studies at universities of applied sciences or colleges of higher education, an additional practical part is necessary.

Form of Examination:
from 2023 : in writing
Prerequisites:
Entry from the 2nd or 3rd grade (10th/11th school year) of Zurich secondary school (level A or B) or after an equivalent education.
Age limit:
Students who turn 17 before May 1 of the year of entry are unfortunately ineligible for the entrance exam.
Final Exam Grade:
from 2023:
- Sec A pupils who are in Level 1 in all examination subjects (if there are requirement levels): 50% examination grade (German and Mathematics ½ each), 50% experience grade (German, Mathematics Geometry ½ each), French, English, Science, Work and Learning Behavior of January report card 1/6 each).
- Sek A pupils who are NOT in level 1 in all examination subjects (if there are requirement levels) and Sek B pupils with recommendation of the Sek class teacher and pupils from a private school: 100 % examination grade (German and mathematics ½ each).
Passing the short high school entrance exam:
from 2023:
- With inclusion of advance performance: final examination grade at least 4.75
- Without inclusion of prior achievement: Examination grade at least 4.5
