What is the Fachmittelschule (FMS)? What is the ZAP?
The Fachmittelschule (FMS) is a vocational training program that begins after completion of compulsory education. The practice-based training includes the three professional fields of health and natural sciences, pedagogy, and communication and information.
Depending on their choice, students can graduate from the Fachmittelschule (FMS) either after three years with the Fachmittelschulausweis or after four years with the Fachmaturität. To enter the FMS, students must pass an entrance examination (ZAP). This consists of a written and an oral part in mathematics and German and must be passed with a sufficient grade point average.
